Zee G. Hunter is an artist originally from the mythical lands of Northern Alberta.
Eight and lost in a mountain forest. Kidnapped and nearly murdered. A lone panther, watching himself. A survivor. Shedding skin, reptilian phoenix, crawling from the burnt corpse half-size. Gently floating out of hell. The spider-goddess smiles. Becoming art. Sliding through judgements and ego. Becoming whole again. The haze slices away, DNA repairs, medication becomes superfluous, gratitude becomes king. A thankful survivor.
Z began making movies independently in 2005, with no training. He received a BA from the University of Calgary in 2007 majoring in Religious Studies and minoring in Film Studies. In 2017, returning to University to improve as an artist. Making the Dean’s List and earning a BA with Distinction, majoring in Film Studies with a minor in Visual Studies and Art History at the University of Calgary in 2020. Creating artistic expressions through time-sculptures (video), photography, painting, and various other mediums. Z is currently completing a BFA (Hons) in Visual Studies.
